What happens in a tie?

Equal adjusted times share the combined prizes for their occupied places equally. If fewer than three players qualify, unawarded prizes stay in the prize treasury. Rounding remainders stay there too.

WHERE REWARDS COME FROM

Planned funding: a pre-funded project treasury and disclosed sponsor contributions. The funded amount and payout address must be published before registration opens.

Read the competition rules
  1. Registration opens at :00 and :30 UTC. Play begins 15 minutes later; the playing window lasts 10 minutes.
  2. All entrants receive the same hard 9 × 9 puzzle when the round begins. A late start does not extend the deadline.
  3. One verified wallet and one scored attempt per round. Hints and restarts are disabled; undo and removing a shape are allowed.
  4. Score = time measured by the server from the shared round start, plus 5 seconds for every invalid submitted shape. A full, correct board must be submitted before the deadline.
  5. Only eligible, verified solves enter the ranking. Equal scores share the combined prizes for the places they occupy.
  6. The prize split is 50% / 30% / 20%. Rewards become claimable only after verification and a funded prize pool are confirmed. Every completed payout must have a public transaction reference.

These are the proposed launch rules. The current trial uses local scoring and does not create eligibility, a claim or a payment.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

All squared away.

Do I need a wallet to play?

No. The daily puzzle, practice mode and tutorial are free and work without a wallet or an account.

When does the daily puzzle change?

A new board arrives at 00:00 UTC each day. Everyone gets the same puzzle for the same date and board size. Your current game stays available until you choose the new daily board.

How are times and records saved?

The clock runs from your first start, including time away from the page. Your current board and personal records are saved in this browser when storage is available. Clearing browser data removes them. Hinted games and replays count as solves, but don’t set a best time.

Can I earn tokens or prizes now?

Not yet. You can try the tournament format, its time limit and penalty system now. The live $SHAPE token, funded prize pool, shared ranking and payouts are not connected. The planned rules and reward split are shown above.

What makes Hard and Expert harder?

They use larger, overlapping possibilities for each clue. The generator checks that only one complete solution exists. Hard uses 9 × 9, Expert uses 11 × 11, and both avoid single-cell clues and long one-cell strips. Tournament trials add a time limit, penalties and no hints.

Can I use a keyboard?

Yes. Start the board, then use the arrow keys to move. Press Enter or Space on opposite corners to place a shape. Press Escape to cancel a selection and Delete or Backspace to remove a shape. Use Ctrl/⌘ Z to undo and Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z to redo.
